How Is Gum Disease Treated?

At our office, we offer scaling and root planing. This is a deep cleaning performed to remove plaque and tartar both above and below the gumline. We begin by scaling your teeth, removing the built-up plaque, and polishing the enamel. Next, we clear the tartar away from the roots of your teeth below the gumline. Once this is complete, we will smooth (or plane) your tooth roots. Planing your tooth roots will prevent bacterial growth in the future, minimizing your risk of developing gum disease.
